HP Magic Giveaway

Hey guys,
There's this great giveaway going on at http://www.livingintheory.blogspot.com/. Check it out and good luck to all. Here is my entry!
If I were to win this giveaway, I would surely donate a majority of it to people that need it much, much more than I do. I would donate the HP TouchSmart to my brother in Egypt because he has finally become a pilot, gotten married, and bought a new apartment all in the same year. I would love to congratulate him this Christmas. The HP Mini, HDX, MediaSmart Connect, 564 Photo Value Pack, Office, VideoStudio, and DV4 would be donated to this great organization that really touched my heart, called the Soujourn House. They help refugees that have come in to Canada by supplying food, shelter, clothing, water, etc. These refugees have very tragic stories: some cases dealing with rape, political problems, and other issues. I would love to give them something to help them learn English and to get in touch with their family back home, if possible. I would only have to keep the printer because I have no printer at home and it is inconvenient and expensive to go to the library whenever I have to complete my work for university. And lastly, I would give Kung Fu Panda to my 9 month old neice back in Egypt.
Happy Holidays,
James from VeryGoodReviews

Only the printer for yourself? How selfless and thoughtful! Good luck to you!

What an awesome organization that is that helps the refugees! It is very hard to navigate after a move even if you're staying within your own country. But, to have to do it after a life upheaval, to a new country, sometimes with a new language to learn - I can't even imagine how hard that would be!

And, what a big heart you have to want to share so much of your prize to help change their lives!

You post made me think of "Infidel," a recent book I read by Ayaan Hirsi Ali in which she describes her experiences as a refugee in Holland. I love the spirit behind such an organization. So many people all over the world need a place to flee to and more than that, need tools when they get there to help them integrate into their new society and become part of it so they can better themselves, their families, and ultimately be contributing members of their community. Awesome that you found and would like to help such an organization.

Good luck with the contest and happy holidays!

There was and organization where I used to live that did a lot of work for refugees. I always wanted to help. They needed people to come in and help teach life skills, things like how to balance a checkbook, these people never had money, much less a bank account!! I was always so amazed and wanted my kids to take part as well.

cheers,
@carissarogers

I like the idea of sharing with family to celebrate/congratulate/honor a great achievement. I think your family and the Sojourn House would feel very blessed if you won. Thank you for sharing!

Sojourn house sounds like a very cool charity. I can hardly imagine being a refugee in a strange country, what amazing stories those folks would have. It will be so cool if they use one of the copies of visual studio and the built in camera/microphone to share their stories, vlog or blog and practice english all at the same time. Best of luck to you and happy holidays to you and your fmaily.
